Angus,
Yes, I read that book too. I could easily relate to her feelings of "should I stay, or should I go". The author finally realized that she had to be true to herself.
post the books you think should be required reading for anyone leaving the jws: .

THE UNIVERSE.
By Roberto Dansie
There is a universe within us all. It is there, even if we ignore it. Modern man has been looking outward, and paying little or no attention to the world within. And much of our suffering and animosity unfolds from this lack of awareness.
Artists and poets have the ability to tune in and share with us this world. The rest of us enter it only when we fall asleep, when we dream.
Amazingly, individuals who tell me that they have no creativity at all, often come up with extraordinary stories when they narrate their dreams.
Then the trick is to help them be with their eyes open who they already are with their eyes closed, a life unfolding its talents in the world.
Artists have the ability to dream with their eyes open. Somehow they have managed to keep access to their inner world and have become immune to the petrifying effect of external pressures. Emotions such as shame, guilt, and hate, have a petrifying effect, while those of caring, affection, and peace; create the ideal environment for us to manifest our talents.
As we liberate our dormant or repressed Self, we become more and more the glorious being we were meant to be. We all have a uniqueness without which the Universe would be incomplete. We hold the instrument that plays the key notes of the symphony of life. Clouds, rivers, birds, sing their part, and then there is a pause. This is where we were meant to do our solo.
How unfortunate are those who do not fulfill the expectation that life has of them. And how wonderful are those who rise to the moment to give lifes melody its most moving note!
We are meant to sing with the universe, to enrich it with our lives.
This is the universal man, the one we are meant to be.
Deep within us lives the place from which the entire universe unfolded. At moments of great peace or joy or love, we enter it.
The ancient Romans refer to it as the magic city of "ROMA", a city that became visible only to those who found it. The entrance to this city was in its name. Read backwards ROMA becomes AMOR, the Latin word for love.
We all come from this city.
Look around you.
It is easy to see who is in it.
You can see it in their eyes, in their smiles, in their lives.
All it takes is a blink of our eyes to enter the magic city.
Can you see it?
how many of you are totally, incredibly happy in your marriage?
how many of you feel that your spouse is your absolute soul mate and you couldn't even imagine your being married somebody else?
talking with the women at work, i'm surprised at how many are not totally happy.
Sean,
>>I don't agree with your idea that being happily married makes one a "decent" person and being unhappy somehow puts one in some other catagory, presumably un-decent. Marriage is a two person relationship and a person could be unhappy with the marriage while still being decent<<
I appoligize, but believe I wasn't clear on this point. I work closely with victims of Domestic Violence at work, and this is were my thought came for this thread. So many women are beaten, abused verbally and physically where their spirit is beaten down to a pulp....but they refuse to leave because their husbands "love" them or they don't want to leave because of the children. The husband usually says he is happy with his marriage, and a lot of time the woman believes that the marriage is basically OK. As I see it, this guy is not a decent man....but he thinks so. In this case the woman is not totally happy, but by no means did I mean she is not decent!
I agree with you...marriage is a two way street. Two people have to have the game goal of making the marriage work, but some have different ways of attaining that goal. Two people may have a different meaning for "happiness". It depends on what you believe is a happy marriage.
I really enjoyed your response....thanks Sean!
Troucul,
What can I say....I still feel sorry for these guys! I'm willing to help out if I can. :)
what is the sweetest or nicest thing somebody of the opposite sex has ever said or done for you?
or what would you want somebody of the opposite sex to say or do to you to make you all happy inside?
i'm not looking for sexual things here just things that make you stop and go "ahh how nice".
Troucel,
"a side note, one thing i've learned is that women don't like guys who are sweet...i'm beginning to believe they like cold hearted, introverted guys...believe me, i found out the hard way. I think women do prefer 'Red Dragon' "
Woman like a controlling man, but do not like being controlled. We like to feel nurtured and taken care of, but with respect and treated as an equal....at least I do.
...the swede.
ya'll settle down now, y'hear?.
time flies, and some give all, but keep it up and your going to break some hearts; some achy breaky hearts, dammit.
OMG...I think Billy Ray C is a HOTTIE, HOTTIE!!! I could do without the mullet, though.

here and there a newbie will post and its obvious that they think that this site is for jw's and not ex's.
did any of you ever come across an apostate site on accident?
what about the first time you came here?
I wasn't really scared to post for the very first time...I just jumped right in. I did find, though, that some came across as rude, angry, hostile, and quick to judge. I was turned off by the badmouthing that I found here. I didn't feel very welcomed.
Now, I just don't care. I don't post a whole lot, and I only read through this board when I have some time. I have found some very nice and caring people on this board, though. There are also some that can really make me laugh! It's been a fun place, and sometimes informative. I have found it helpful to find some that have somewhat gone through what I have gone through. To those I say "Thank You".
Mmmm....I like that stuff!
